FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Rebel Ridling's home run provided three of the four runs the Cowboys scored in the first inning on the way to a 6-4 victory over Creighton in the NCAA baseball tournament.
The win Friday ended a six-game losing streak by OSU that went back to its last regular-season series against Missouri. The Cowboys, now 39-19, advance to play tomorrow against the winner of a later game today at Fayetteville between Arkansas and Albany.
Starter Oliver Odle went the distance for OSU to raise his record to seven-and-four. He struck out five batters and gave up four runs on nine hits. The nine-inning effort was Odle's longest of the season, as he'd previously pitched only eight innings at a stretch, in two different games.
In its half of the first inning, Creighton scored two runs on back-to-back RBI singles from Steve Winkelmann and Chad Ogden.
The Jays' other two runs came in the third inning when Darin Ruf scored on a fielding error and Winkelmann scored on an RBI-groundout by Ogden.
