OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A company that operates private prisons plans to expand two of its Oklahoma prisons to meet a growing demand for space to hold inmates. Corrections Corporation of America says Cimarron Correctional Facility in Cushing and the Davis Correctional Facility in Holdenville will each be expanded by 660 beds.
Both prisons currently house Oklahoma inmates but it isn't clear whether the state will be able to use the added space.
Corrections Department spokesman Jerry Massie says the department needs $40 million to pay for the private prison space it already uses.
