SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say two Oklahoma City residents died in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 in Sequoyah County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol isn't sure when the accident occurred on Monday. The wreckage was discovered about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday at mile marker 318.
Troopers say the driver of the pickup truck was headed west on I-40 when it ran off the road about 480 feet, struck an embankment and fell into a creek.
Troopers say the 45-year-old male driver and his 52-year-old female passenger were both from Oklahoma City, but their names weren't released pending notification of relatives.
The patrol says both were wearing seat belts and died of massive injuries.
