MIAMI, Okla. (AP) -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will award nearly $200,000 to the Peoria Tribe of Oklahoma, based in Miami, Oklahoma. The grant was awarded as part of the tribe's Native America Conservation Projects program.
The tribe will use the money for the propagation of the Neosho madtom, a small catfish. It also plans to reintroduce the Neosho mucket and rabbitsfoot mussels to the Spring and Neosho rivers.
The grant is part of $9 million awarded to 60 American Indian projects in 18 states.
