A man is under arrest for allegedly trying to stealing a Tulsa police officer’s squad car.
Saturday evening officers spotted the man who had been involved in a disturbance at an apartment complex at 61st and Peoria. Instead of pulling over officers say the man led them on a chase that ended in a park at 67th and Yorktown when he crashed his moped and took of running. That's where things took a twist.
"Officers were giving chase, he circled around a tree, and got into one of the police cars and tried to take it," said Tulsa Police Captain Rick Helberg.
Two officers were partially in the squad car when the man hit the gas and crashed into a tree. We're told the officers were banged up a bit, but not seriously hurt.
