OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Legislature adjourned the 2007 regular session Friday after a four-month run in which lawmakers clashed with Governor Brad Henry over the state budget and among themselves over illegal immigration, civil justice reform and anti-abortion legislation.
The state House adjourned shortly after 2 o-clock this afternoon after passing a variety of legislation, including a bill to provide a permanent source of funding for a popular state-supported college scholarship program.
Members of the Senate did not report to the Capitol after wrapping up their work late yesterday. Senators adopted a resolution to formally adjourn the body effective at 5 p.m. Friday, the constitutionally mandated hour for adjournment.
The legislative session was dominated by a power struggle between the Republican-dominated Legislature and the Democratic Henry over the state budget.
