DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Arkansas' Stacy Lewis made a birdie on the 18th hole Wednesday and is in sole possession of second place at the NCAA women's golf championship.
Lewis shot a 1-under 71 for the second straight day. She is one stroke behind Purdue's Christel Boejion with two rounds to play. Boejion shot a 69 Wednesday.
Lewis was in a four-way tie for second until the final hole. Her birdie there left three golfers tied for third at 143 _ Amanda Blumenherst of Duke, Tiffany Joh of UCLA and Catherine Matranga of Texas Christian.
On Lewis' final hole _ the par-4, 356-yard No. 9 on the 6,351-yard Legends Course at LPGA International Golf Club _ she reached the green in regulation, then sank an 18-foot putt for birdie.
Lewis began her day in the afternoon as the winds picked up. She opened on the back nine on No. 10, a par-4, 358-yard hole, and three-putted for a bogey.
Lewis birdied the par-3 16th, and she remained even through the turn. She bogeyed No. 1 _ her 10th hole _ then birdied the par-3 third.
