OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An eighth-grade middle school student from Yukon is one of 10 finalists in the National Geographic Bee in Washington and she will compete for a $25,000 college scholarship.
Lakeview Middle School student and 2007 Oklahoma Geographic Bee champion Tyler Bowen will compete in the finals moderated by ``Jeopardy'' game show host Alex Trebek on Wednesday.
Each finalist wins $500 and the winner, in addition to the scholarship, receives a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society.
Second and third prizes are scholarships for $15,000 and $10,000.
The bee is sponsored by JPMorgan Chase and designed to increase student interest in and awareness of geography.
