Michigan Governor Seeks Extradition Of Okmulgee Oilman

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ The governor of Michigan began proceedings to extradite an Okmulgee oilman who faces 39 felony counts including racketeering, embezzlement and misuse of cemetery funds.

Clayton Smart is jailed in Oklahoma on a $4.2 million bond and is already fighting extradition to Tennessee, where he also faces charges.

Smart, Muskogee lawyer Stephen Smith and stockbroker Mark Singer of Pennsylvania are charged with theft of property, conspiracy and money laundering.

Smith surrendered to authorities in Memphis, Tennessee, earlier this week and was released Wednesday on $20,000 bond.
