OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A state lawmaker wants Attorney General Drew Edmondson to obtain the names of registered sex offenders in Oklahoma who have been dropped from the popular Internet social networking site MySpace.

Earlier this week, attorneys general from eight states asked MySpace to provide information about registered sex offenders who used the site and where they lived.

Oklahoma was not one of the states, but a spokesman for the attorney general says it is part of a larger group of states working on the issue. A telephone conference is scheduled tomorrow with other state attorneys general to decide their next step.

MySpace has cited federal privacy law in refusing to release the requested information, but agreed to drop the profiles of registered sex offenders across the nation.

Moore Republican Paul Wesselhoft says Edmondson should ask for names of the dropped offenders.
