TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A Sapulpa man who was hit by a car as the driver tried to avoid a dog in the road has died.

The Tulsa medical examiner says Aaron Stern died Thursday at a Tulsa hospital of head and internal injuries.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Stern was critically injured just after 9 p.m. last Thursday when a car driven by Montey Miller of Sapulpa swerved in an effort to avoid the dog and hit Stern.

Troopers say Miller then crashed into a culvert but wasn't injured.
