TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) -- A preliminary hearing scheduled for Thursday in Cherokee County District Court for former northeast Oklahoma District Attorney Richard Gray on embezzlement charges is being postponed. Gray is charged with taking nearly $9,000 that was seized during drug investigations.
Court officials say the delay is because a prosecution witness is out of the country. The witness is District Attorney Investigator Clint Johnson.
The hearing is being rescheduled for July 9th and 10th.
Gray was district attorney for Adair, Cherokee, Sequoyah and Wagoner counties. He was defeated last summer in his re-election bid by current District Attorney Jerry Moore.
