PAULS VALLEY, Okla. (AP) -- A federal parolee whom authorities have charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife on a downtown Wynnewood street could face the death penalty.
Garvin County District Attorney Greg Mashburn filed paperwork yesterday to seek the death penalty against 61-year-old Franklin Cecil Green.
Green was released from a federal prison in Beaumont, Texas, to a halfway house in Oklahoma City in October after serving 26 years for kidnapping and taking a stolen car across state lines.
In November, Green moved and rented an apartment in downtown Wynnewood.
He is charged with shooting his wife of less than two weeks, 60-year-old Gloria Hunter, on April 10th.
Investigators have said they believe Green feared that Hunter would turn him in to his parole officer after Green had removed an electronic monitoring device he had been ordered to wear as part of his probation.
Green is being held in the Garvin County jail without bail.
