Verdigris High School basketball standout Rotnei Clarke says he’s not transferring to Jenks. He says the rumors he’s leaving Verdigris are not true, and he doesn’t know how they started.
Another rumor Clark is shooting down is that he’ll attend ORU where his father, Conley Clarke, took a job as the director of basketball operations. He says his father working at the university will not affect his decision for where he’ll play college ball.
Clark has been offered a scholarship by nearly two dozen Division I programs, and he’s speaking with other schools but won’t say which one he’s leaning towards.
Clark led the state in scoring last season with 37.6 ppg, and is Oklahoma’s top college recruit for 2007-08. He has 2,534 career points and needs only 1,086 more to break the Oklahoma high school scoring record, currently held by Ty Harman. If Clark continues to average 37.6 ppg and Verdigris plays a full scheduled he should break the record by a few points.
