OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled today that a teacher's union's one (b) billion-dollar lawsuit accusing the Legislature of underfunding state schools involved a political question outside the court's jurisdiction.
The state's highest court upheld lower court's ruling against the Oklahoma Education Association and three school districts. The court ruled that the groups failed to allege facts that would have asserted a violation of students' constitutional rights.
The court's opinion stated that questions of fiscal and educational policy are to be determined by the Legislature, and it isn't the court's place to review those decisions.
