OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Ty Wright's single to right field in the bottom of the 9th inning and an error by Oklahoma pitcher Garrett Richards gave Oklahoma State an 8-7 victory over Oklahoma and a sweep of the Bedlam series on Sunday.
The Sooners (28-20, 8-13) were leading 7-5 in the bottom of the frame when the Cowboys loaded the bases on 2 walks and a sacrifice bunt by Matt Lopez. Richards made an errant throw to 3rd base in an attempt to force an out and Matt Mangini and Jordy Mercer scored to tie the game. Wright's RBI won the game.
Oklahoma State won Saturday's game 10-2 and had an 8-7 victory on Friday.
``This is a let down, but our guys fought hard and I am extremely proud of them,'' said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. ``We have a tall task ahead of us and we need to take care of business in the last two weekends to make the postseason.''
The teams kept pace with each other, getting runs in the 1st inning to tie the game. Both had 3-run 3rd innings, with run-scoring single by Jackson Williams, Mike Gosse and Joe Dunigan for Oklahoma.
Oklahoma State hit its fifth and sixth homers of the series, as Corey Brown cleared the fence in right and Rebel Ridling the wall in center.
The Sooners regained the lead, 5-4, on Aljay Davis homer in the 4th inning and held onto an advantage until the bottom of the 8th inning, when the Cowboys scored.
RBIs by Williams and Aaron Baker gave Oklahoma a 7-5 lead, but the Sooners wouldn't hold on to it.
Mercer (2-0) got the win in relief, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs in 2 innings.
Richards (1-1) suffered the loss.
