OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State lawmakers plan to discuss a recent report by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that gave Oklahoma a "D" in education. The study was highly critical of Oklahoma's public education system in areas ranging from academic achievement, truth in advertising about proficiency and data quality.
A joint meeting of the state Senate and state House education committees will be held Tuesday to discuss the report.
State Senator Kathleen Wilcoxson called the report a "wake-up call." It gave Oklahoma a failing grade and says student performance is among the lowest in the nation.
