The verdict is in for a one-time Hominy citizen of the year in his community. It took an Osage County District Court jury less than an hour to convict 64-year-old Roy Westbrook of first-degree murder.

Westbrook was accused of shooting Rebecca Clements three times inside the Hominy Diner in July 2005. Authorities say Clements was shot because she wrote a letter to the editor of the Hominy newspaper about Westbrook as a landlord.

Westbrook pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Jurors recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole.

Westbrook will be formally sentenced July 17th.
