BIG CABIN, Okla. (AP) _ A train collided with a vehicle on a railroad track early Saturday in northern Mayes County, killing a Tulsa man who was pinned inside the wreckage, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Steven Wayne Bowman, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened about 4:30 a.m. Saturday on a county road three miles south of Big Cabin, said OHP trooper Ben Bertram.

The southbound Union Pacific locomotive slammed into Bowman's car and dragged the vehicle more than 2,200 feet before coming to a stop, the OHP reported. Bowman was pinned inside the vehicle for nearly three hours.

It was unclear why Bowman's car was stopped on the railroad tracks, Bertram said.
