FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Freshman Tanisha Smith and incoming signee Morgan Boyd were released from the Arkansas women's basketball team, new coach Tom Collen announced Friday.
Smith requested permission to transfer, and Boyd, a senior at Olathe, Kan., was released from her letter of intent.
"We wish them well and hope they find success wherever their search takes them," said Collen, hired this offseason to replace Susie Gardner. "We're focused on moving ahead with our rebuilding process, and look forward to working with the players who are committed to the University of Arkansas."
Smith, a forward, averaged 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds a game last season. Arkansas went 18-13, 3-11 in the Southeastern Conference regular season.
