OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- More than 10,000 Oklahoma FFA students are in Oklahoma City for the annual state convention and leaders will try to convince many to become ag teachers.

The Oklahoma FFA Association says 42% of the agricultural education teachers in the state will be eligible to retire within four years and replacing them is the biggest challenge it faces.

The FFA and Oklahoma State officials are trying to get students into a four-day summer program in Stillwater this summer. Those who complete the program and attend OS-U as ag education majors will get $1,000 scholarships.

The two-day state FFA convention ends Wednesday at the Cox Convention Center.
