NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) -- Police and emergency squads have been sent to a medium-security men's prison in Indiana after officials say inmates staged a "full-scale riot."

The prison can house about 22-hundred inmates and it currently has about one-thousand prisoners from Indiana and 630 from Arizona.

An Arizona Department of Corrections spokeswoman says some of the transferred inmates have complained about being moved because of the state's shortage of prison space. She says it is too early to say whether the transfers played any role in the riot.

An Indiana Department of Correction spokeswoman says more than one cell house was involved, and two staff members have been injured.

Television footage showed at least two fires burning in the courtyard.
