Shawnee quarterback Tucker Brown will get another chance at a senior season. Brown applied for and received a waiver for an additional semester of eligibility for the 2007 football season.
Brown tore his anterior ligament during a 2006 game. The injury and complications from surgery kept him out of school until the end of November. Because of his absence, he has to retake two core classes. Brown is making up a government class this semester, but must wait until fall to retake English.
“It was obviously disappointing to see it end like it did,†said Tucker’s father and Shawnee coach Billy Brown. “We are glad he’ll be able to come back and play.â€
OSSAA Executive Secretary Danny Rennels said such waivers are rare.
“We’ll not do but probably one or two a year,†said Rennels.
Brown will be eligible to play starting the Wolves’ third game of the 2007 season.
