STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Tim Beckman brought a crafty defense to Oklahoma State with him after coaching for Ohio State in the national championship game.
Fans of the Cowboys will have to wait a few months longer to see the real deal.
Beckman says after tonight's O-S-U spring football game that the Cowboys have much more yet to add to their defensive package.
With thousands of fans -- and potentially scouts from other teams -- watching, Beckman said O-S-U used a, quote, "very basic defense" in a spring game that ended up being more of a spectacle than a true scrimmage.
For the record, the White team beat the Orange squad 35-27 in a game that featured a wild finish.
Head coach Mike Gundy says he was having so much fun he decided to extend the game by canceling plans for a running clock in the final minutes.
Beckman says the shootout finish to the game wasn't necessarily what he envisioned as a defensive coach, but that the spectators got what they wanted.
