WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Wichita State Athletics Director Jim Schaus says he expects to hire a new basketball coach within a week, if not days.

Mark Turgeon made it official Tuesday that he's moving on to Texas A&M.

Schaus says he learned on Friday that Turgeon was considering the Texas A&M job, and he has worked since then to build a pool of names. He has not interviewed anyone yet.

Schaus says will pick the new coach because there isn't enough time to put together a search committee.

He says he already has ten times as many potential applicants as he did seven years ago when Turgeon was hired.

The list of possible successors to Turgeon may include ORUâ€™S Scott Sutton.

Last week Sutton was considered by many to be the top pick at Creighton until Dana Altman returned to Omaha.
