Tulsa doctors are changing the life of a young boy for free. A 5-year-old Ricardo Jimenez from Nicaragua has lived his entire life without an esophagus. His mother feeds him pureed beans through a tube to an opening in his stomach.
Ricardo Jimenze arrived at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa over the weekend. Two pediatric surgeons will monitor him this week, then they'll perform a very rare surgery, called a colon interposition, where part of his colon is used to act as an esophagus.
