LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) Chris Ashman tossed a complete-game 5-hitter as Oral Roberts edged Long Beach State 3-2 on Saturday and salvaged the final game of the three-game series.

Ashman moves to 3-3 with the win. He struck out 5 and retired the last 7 batters after Long Beach State had cut a 3-run ORU lead to 1 run.

ORU took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning on consecutive doubles by Jake Kahaulelio and Brian Van Kirk off Omar Arif.

The Golden Eagles went up 3-0 in the 7th thanks to 3 straight singles by Brendan Duffy, Kelly Minissale and Kahaulelio, followed by a Long Beach State error.

The Dirtbags scored twice in the 7th on a Kyle Morgan's single and an error by Kahaulelio, but Ashman escaped further damage. The complete game was the third of his career.

Duffy, Minissale, Kahaulelio and Adam Younger all had 2 hits each for ORU.

ORU is now 16-14 while Long Beach State falls to 16-12.
