A traffic accident on the Turner Turnpike late Wednesday night results in the arrest of Tulsa man for vehicle theft. Creek County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 34-year-old Bobby Joe Johnson after investigating a rollover accident on the turnpike shortly before midnight.
Deputies say a homeowner near the accident scene called the Creek County Sheriff’s Office to report someone was attempting to steal a car in the 10900 block of West Heights Drive. After searching the neighborhood, deputies found Johnson hiding in a travel trailer.
Deputies say Johnson admitted to stealing a pickup truck from Tulsa and crashing it on the Turner Turnpike. Johnson was taken to a Tulsa hospital for treatment and then taken to the Creek County jail.
Johnson was booked into jail on two complaints of second-degree burglary.
