Tulsa Police have arrested five suspects, two adult women and three juvenile boys, in connection with a carjacking in west Tulsa. The victim was driving Wednesday afternoon when he saw a truck driving recklessly. When the victim confronted the man in the truck about his driving, they started fighting, and the man's friends jumped in. Tulsa Police say the victim was carrying a gun, but News On 6 anchor Omar Villafranca reports the suspects wrestled the gun away and pistol-whipped him several times.
"The victim was finally able to break free and run and hid behind a tree,†said Tulsa Police Officer Don Holloway. “At that time, shots were fired at the victim by one of the suspects."
The victim wasn't shot. During the melee, Tulsa Police say Crystal Swift jumped into the victim's Cadillac. She was arrested and now faces one charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. Police also caught up with Tina Tankersley who had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Officers say they've been in that neighborhood before, but not for anything like this.
"This neighborhood is usually fairly quiet,†said Holloway. “There's been some disturbances in the past, not involving these people. There were some minor disturbances, but all in all, it's a pretty quiet neighborhood.â€
Tankersley also faces one charge of possession of a stolen vehicle, four counts of knowingly concealing stolen property and driving without a license. The three juvenile boys all face possession of a stolen vehicle charges.
