A mystery plant is being built at the Mid-America Industrial Park in Pryor. Officials say it means lots of new jobs, but they won't say what it is. The level of secrecy is high, but they say it's definitely coming. Pryor proved it can land a pretty big fish last summer when it reeled in a Gatorade plant. The News On 6’s Steve Berg reports now they say, sometime this month they'll have another big announcement.
They always stay busy at the Mid-America Industrial Park, but there's more buzzing this month about a pending announcement.
2nd District Congressman Dan Boren, whose district includes Pryor, spoke at the Pryor Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday.
"They have told us there is a company coming,†said Boren. “There are lots of jobs. We just don't know who the company is. We don't know how many jobs. We don't know when they're going to tell us it's coming."
The industrial park recently sold 800 acres of land. It's a big piece of land for what they say will be a big plant. Just across the road is the new Gatorade plant, which is thirsty for employees.
"Great things are happening because we've got low cost energy. We've got great water, and a lot of people are moving to this area,†said Boren. “In fact, now we're trying to find employees. I mean, that's a great problem to have. Usually it's where we're trying to find a company to move in."
Aside from saying that it will be a nice facility, officials are not sharing any information about the new plant.
