STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma State assistant basketball coach Jimmy Williams resigned Tuesday after three seasons on the Cowboys' staff to pursue other coaching opportunities.

Williams was in his second stint at OSU.

He was an assistant to Sutton's father, Eddie Sutton, during the 1999-2000 season, when the Cowboys reached the round of eight in the NCAA tournament.

He returned to OSU in 2004 and served under both Eddie Sutton and Sean Sutton.

Sean Sutton says he appreciated Williams' hard work and dedication.

Williams also has served as a college assistant at Ashland, Minnesota, Tulsa, Nebraska and Louisiana-Lafayette, as well as an assistant in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors.

His longest stint was in college at Minnesota, where he worked from 1971 to 1986 under Bill Musselman and Jim Dutcher.
