A nursing home is evacuated after a car plows into a resident's living room. Tulsa Police say a 77-year-old woman came to visit a friend at St. Simeon's in north Tulsa. Police say as the woman pulled into a parking spot, she hit the gas, hopped the curb and crashed through the wall. The woman's car ended up inside a resident's living room at the nursing home. The resident was in bed and was not hurt.
The nursing home, located in the 3700 block of North Cincinnati, was worried about fire, so emergency crews evacuated the building. The driver didn't have any obvious injuries, but was taken to a Tulsa hospital just to be safe.
"We're very lucky," said Tulsa Police Cpl. Steve Wood. "She was able to get that car all the way in that building. The whole car was inside the room. We're lucky we didn't have any injuries, and the car is drivable and we're all set."
Tulsa Police officers drove the car out of the room. They say the building is still structurally sound.
