AUSTIN (AP) Kyle Russell's 5th inning home run broke a 2-2 tie and helped lead Texas to a 4-3 win over Oklahoma on Friday night.
The Longhorns (24-8, 6-1) took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the 7th, but the Sooners narrowed the gap in the 8th with Devin Shepherd's run-scoring single to right field. Randy Boone earned his eighth save of the season, striking out Joseph Hughes to end the game.
Hughes hit a solo home run in the top of the 3rd for Oklahoma (20-8, 2-2).
James Russell (6-2) got the win, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits over 5 2-3 innings. He struck out 7. Stephen Porlier (4-2) took the loss. He gave up 4 runs on 9 hits over 7 innings.
Oklahoma and Texas play again on Saturday and Sunday.
