WILBURTON, Okla. (AP) _ Regents at Eastern Oklahoma State College have named McAlester Chamber of Commerce President Steve Smith as the college's new dean.

Smith, who is the current dean at Eastern's McAlester campus, was selected at a regents' meeting Wednesday afternoon. He will succeed Richard Bernard in his new position.

The regents gave Smith a 15-month contract, with an annual salary of $105,000.

Smith said he would also continue to serve as dean of the McAlester campus for the time being until a replacement can be found for him.
