OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma football team has a verbal commitment from a high school quarterback from New Mexico.

Landry Jones of Artesia says he'll sign with the Sooners over Colorado and UCLA. Jones says he called OU coach Bob Stoops and quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel to tell them his decision.

Jones is 6'5 and 220-pounds. He threw for more than 3,400 yards and 45 touchdowns as a junior last season and was New Mexico's Class 4A player of the year.
