JAY, Okla. (AP) -- A Delaware County District Court jury is recommending 10 years in prison for a Colcord man it convicted of second-degree murder.
The jury deliberated for seven hours Wednesday night before convicting Timothy Bales in the September shooting death of Robert Alberty.
Bales' attorneys argued the shooting was in self-defense. Bales told Jay Police he grabbed a pistol from the back of a friend's pants and shot when Alberty reached for a rifle while the two were arguing.
Alberty was found dead in the front seat of his pickup truck.
