OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A bill introduced in the U.S. House Tuesday would transfer ownership of land around Lake Texoma to the state of Oklahoma.
This would pave the way for private development around the scenic southern Oklahoma lake.
The bill by Representatives Mary Fallin and Tom Cole would remove a stipulation that if the state stops using the land ownership would revert to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
A private developer wants to buy land near the lake for a resort, home sites, high-rise condominiums, a restaurant, an 18-hole golf course and hiking trails.
