WASHINGTON (AP) _ The return of daylight saving time means an extra hour of light in the evenings.

The official change was at 2 a.m. Sunday.

When changing the clocks, it also is a good time to put new batteries in warning devices such as smoke detectors and hazard warning radios.

In areas that observe daylight time, standard time will return on Nov, 4. Some parts of the country do not observe daylight time. Those include Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.
