OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The House Judiciary and Public Safety Committee approved five anti-abortion bills.
The measures drew little opposition Tuesday among the 19 committee members present.
Among other things, the bills would:
--Restrict the performance of abortions in state medical facilities and by state employees;
--Change the language of a medical emergency to prevent abuse of state law on informed consent;
--Prohibit coverage for non-lifesaving abortions under health insurance policies unless an extra premium is paid;
--And change the definition of abortion to include a method in which a drug is injected into the heart of a fetus to cause death.
The bills now go to the state House floor for consideration.
