A Crimestoppers tip helped Tulsa Police arrest a suspected armed robber. Tulsa's fugitive task force arrested Demario Wright Tuesday afternoon at an east Tulsa apartment complex. News On 6 anchor Omar Villafranca reports police believe he's responsible for a string of armed robberies at three Tulsa businesses.
Tulsa police arrested 21-year old Demario Wright after receiving a tip on his whereabouts. The tipster called Crimestoppers after we showed surveillance video from the Kwick Stop on East Admiral. In the video the suspect walks up to the counter and pretends like he's going to pay for a bag of chips, then he pulls a gun and fires a shot, missing the clerk, he then ran from the store.
"As what happened in this instance, he fired a couple of rounds initially, so we know he's got a gun that works, and he doesn't have a problem shooting it," Tulsa Police Sergeant David Walker said.
After his arrest Wright confessed to police that he robbed a Taco Bueno just a few minutes after hitting the Kwick Stop. Wright also confessed to holding up the Dollar General Monday evening.
"The video at Kwick Stop was absolutely essential in this case,†said Walker. “So it just goes to show you that once we have good video of these suspects, we can make an apprehension."
Wright already had a burglary charge against him. He now faces two counts of armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and robbery with a dangerous weapon charge.
