SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) Sammy Sosa went 0-3 with 2-strikeouts and a walk in his spring debut Saturday in a "B" game for the Texas Rangers.
Sosa is fifth on the career list with 588 home runs and attempting a comeback after sitting out last season.
The 38-year-old former NLMVP hit a weak fly ball down the right-field line that was caught in foul territory.
He drew a walk in his second at-bat and struck out in his final two plate appearances.
Rangers manager Ron Washington says he expects Sosa to be the DH in the main game against the Royals Saturday.
Sosa is scheduled to play in the outfield for the first time this spring on Sunday.
