Winter makes a return to Oklahoma on Saturday, but a spring-like warmup isn't far away.

The National Weather Service said a front comprised of Pacific and Canadian air will sweep through the region, reinforcing cooler, drier conditions already in place. Winds also will pick up and remain brisk for a few days, elevating concern about wildfire potential.

On Friday, skies were clear to partly cloudy and temperatures ranged from 46 degrees in Guymon to 61 degrees in Lawton. The temperature topped out at 58 degrees in Tulsa and 59 in Oklahoma City, Frederick and Muskogee, forecasters said.

It may be chilly and windy but at least skies will be mostly sunny on Saturday. Temperatures should reach the 40s and 50s before plunging into the teens and 20s overnight.

Skies should be mostly clear and temperatures warmer on Sunday and Monday, with highs reaching the 50s and 60s on Sunday and mostly 60s on Monday, forecasters said. Lows should dip into the 20s and 30s overnight Monday.

Some clouds will return Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs reaching the 60s and 70s both days. Lows should range from the low 20s in the Oklahoma Panhandle to 30s and 40s elsewhere, the weather service said. Lows Wednesday night should dip into the 30s and 40s.
