They are marketed as a new healthy alternative. But new enhanced waters might not be so good for you. Vitamin Water, SoBe Life Water, Fruit H-2O. It's water with a kick, a splash of flavor and a dose of nutrition.
They are called enhanced waters. But some brands like Vitamin Water and Life Water have up to 120 calories a bottle. And more than 30 grams of sugar. "If you're doing it every once in a while because it tastes different. Because a lot of people just get sick of the way water tastes. They think it’s boring. But if you're drinking more fluids when you normally wouldn't, and if you can afford the calories, that's great," says Rachel Vincent, Dietician with St. John in Owasso.
Many of the enhanced water products do offer health benefits. One bottle can have as much potassium as a banana. Or 100 percent of your daily Vitamin C. And they are low calorie varieties as well.
