SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) -- A Shawnee man dies after the sport utility vehicle he was riding in went out of control on Interstate 40 and overturned.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 30-year-old James Collins died at a Fort Smith, Arkansas, hospital from injuries he sustained in yesterday's 7:10 p.m. accident in Sequoyah County.
The SUV, driven by 21-year-old Lance Adams, was headed east on I-40 when Adams lost control and the vehicle traveled across the center median. It then overturned a few times before coming to rest on the shoulder.
The patrol says Adams was pinned in the wreckage for about 20 minutes. Collins was thrown an unknown distance from the wreckage.
Adams was the only one wearing a seat belt.
