OMAHA, Neb. (AP) There's now confirmation that salmonella was in peanut butter that made hundreds of Americans sick – including several in Oklahoma.

The Centers for Disease Control ran tests on opened jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter from Oklahoma, New York and Iowa and verifies the problem.

Officials say the question now is how it got into the peanut butter that was made at a ConAgra Foods plant in Georgia.

Oklahoma Health Department spokeswoman Leslea Bennett-Webb says the state recovered seven peanut butter jars from eleven salmonella cases confirmed by the state and found the strain of salmonella in at least one of the jars.

No deaths are confirmed but a Pennsylvania family is suing ConAgra, claiming a relative died from eating the infected peanut butter.
