MARANA, Ariz. (AP) Former Oklahoma State golfer Charles Howell III remains alive in the Accenture Match Play Championship in Marana, Arizona.

Howell advanced with a 4 and 3 win over Sergio Garcia Thursday and takes on Justin Rose Friday.

Howell is coming off the second win of his career on the PGA Tour. He defeated Phil Mickelson in a playoff to win the Nissan Open last week.

Howell is among 16 golfers _ including Tiger Woods _ still in the hunt for the Match Play title.
