Those trade rumors will be finished for the season by Thursday afternoon. The Miami Heat's injury woes, on the other hand, seem as if they're here to stay.

Jason Kidd may still be in New Jersey later that night, but Dwyane Wade won't be in Dallas for an NBA finals rematch. That's the latest blow _ and probably the most severe one _ for a Miami team that can't stay healthy.

``This is the way it's going to be this year I guess,'' Heat coach Pat Riley said. ``We've had a lot of adversity. Things haven't been going well from the get go.''

On the night Riley returned to bench, the Heat lost Wade to a dislocated left shoulder in the fourth quarter of their 112-102 loss in Houston. The finals MVP headed to a hospital instead of traveling with Miami for its first visit to Dallas since beating the Mavericks in Game 6 to claim their first championship.

That game caps a busy day in the NBA, which includes the 3 p.m. EST trading deadline.

The underachieving Nets will have to decide what to do with All-Stars Kidd and Vince Carter, who both have been mentioned prominently in trade speculation. Kidd, who shot poorly in New Jersey's 111-107 home loss to New Orleans, understands that a deal could be coming.

``What happens, happens, and we can move forward,'' Kidd said. ``Everybody's anticipating something, so we'll see how it turns out. The big thing is to be a professional and accept whatever happens and move forward.''

In other games, it was: Indiana 136, Milwaukee 129 in double overtime; San Antonio 103, Atlanta 96; Cleveland 86, Toronto 85; Philadelphia 104, New York 84; Detroit 110, Orlando 88; Charlotte 100, Minnesota 95; Phoenix 118, Boston 108; Golden State 118, Memphis 115 in overtime; and Portland 112, the Los Angeles Lakers 108.

Carter scored a season-high 46 points, but Kidd shot 2-for-14 in what might have been his final game with the Nets. Kidd, who has drawn interest from the Lakers, got a warm reception from the crowd at Continental Airlines Arena when he was introduced, and one fan held up a sign that read, ``L.A. Is No Place For A Kidd.''

Los Angeles may want to sweeten its offer to New Jersey on Thursday. The Lakers dropped their season-high sixth straight Wednesday with a 112-108 loss to Portland.

The Heat seemed as if they were back on track, getting back to .500 with a strong finish before the All-Star break. Shaquille O'Neal was playing better, and Riley was back Wednesday after leaving the team early last month for hip and knee surgeries.

But Miami couldn't even get through one game before another injury. Wade's arm got tangled with Shane Battier in the fourth quarter, and the star guard was in such pain that he was in tears as he was taken from the bench in a wheelchair.

The Heat didn't know the extent of Wade's injury, but say they're prepared to play without him.

``It's unfortunate, but you've got to deal with it and move on,'' center Alonzo Mourning said. ``I do know this: We got enough in here to get it done, regardless of if he's out or not. We're deep enough, we've got enough experience. It's just a matter of guys coming mentally and physically prepared every night.''

Spurs 103, Hawks 96

At Atlanta, Manu Ginobili scored a season-high 40 points, including 24 straight for San Antonio in the first half, and Tim Duncan had 30 as the Spurs won their fourth straight.

Joe Johnson scored 30 points for the Hawks, who have lost two in a row.

Cavaliers 86, Raptors 85

At Toronto, LeBron James scored 29 points, and Anderson Varejao dunked teammate Sasha Pavlovic's missed shot with 16 seconds left.

Chris Bosh had 24 points and 10 rebounds and Andrea Bargnani scored 18 points for the Raptors, whose eight-game home winning streak ended.

Trail Blazers 112, Lakers 108

At Los Angeles, Jarrett Jack scored 30 points and Portland sent Los Angeles to its sixth loss in a row, giving Phil Jackson the longest losing streak of his coaching career.

At Oakland, Calif., Monta Ellis scored nine of his 22 points in a frantic overtime, and Golden State survived Mike Miller's franchise-record 45-point performance to beat Memphis.

Jason Richardson scored 19 points in his return from a 22-game absence with a broken hand, playing 37 minutes but making just eight of his 22 shots.

Pistons 110, Magic 88

Chris Webber and Richard Hamilton each scored 18 points, and Detroit beat Orlando for its ninth win in 10 games.

Dwight Howard had 26 points and 15 rebounds for the Magic, but only two other players reached double figures in Orlando's sixth straight road loss.

Pacers 136, Bucks 129, 2OT

At Indianapolis, Jermaine O'Neal had 29 points and 15 rebounds and Danny Granger added 26 points for Indiana.

Reserve Marquis Daniels, charged Wednesday for his role in a Feb. 6 bar fight in Indianapolis, had 22 points for the Pacers. Indiana guard Jamaal Tinsley, also indicted Wednesday, finished with 11 points.

Suns 118, Celtics 108

Leandro Barbosa scored 14 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, Amare Stoudemire had 32 points and 12 rebounds, and the Suns avoided a fourth consecutive home loss.

Three players topped 20 points for the Celtics, who lost their 10th in a row on the road and 20th in 21 games overall. Paul Pierce scored 24, Al Jefferson 23 and Ryan Gomes 21.

76ers 104, Knicks 84

Kyle Korver made six 3-pointers and matched a career high with 31 points as the 76ers finished 3-4 on their season-high, seven-game homestand.

Eddy Curry had 22 points and Jamal Crawford 14 for the Knicks, who beat Orlando a night earlier.

Bobcats 100, Timberwolves 95

At Minneapolis, Adam Morrison scored 26 points _ all in the second half _ to help Charlotte rally from a 17-point deficit and win its third straight game.

Kevin Garnett had 22 points and 11 rebounds to record his NBA-leading 47th double-double for the Timberwolves, who lost their second consecutive game and fell to 3-7 in their past 10.
