OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A one-seat helicopter crashes at a small airport in far western Oklahoma City, killing the only person on board.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Roland Herwig says the crash occurred about 4 p.m. Sunday at Clarence E. Page Municipal Airport. He says the FAA is investigating.
Oklahoma City Police Lieutenant Don Holland says when officers responded to the crash scene, they found 47-year-old Kelly Teague of Mustang aboard the helicopter dead.
Holland says that according to witnesses, the helicopter took off from the airport and flew about 200 yards south into the wind before making a hard turn to go north.
Witnessess say it appeared the wind caught the helicopter and slammed it to the ground.
The airport is located near Interstate 40 and is owned by the city of Oklahoma City. It primarily serves general aviation aircraft.
