A Cherokee County minister arrested in an Internet sting has resigned. 45-year-old Charles Barry 'Chuck' Shaffer stepped down after his arrest last week in Walters, Oklahoma.
Shaffer, who lives in Tahlequah, is one of five men arrested last week in Cotton County, in southwestern Oklahoma. He's accused of committing lewd acts on a computer with a minor younger than 16.
Shaffer was the leader of the Northeastern State University campus ministry, sponsored by the South College Church of Christ. He resigned a day after he posted bond.
26-year-old Christopher Dale of Tulsa and 22-year-old Shaun Green of Bristow were also arrested in the same Internet sting.
