OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality is among the agencies worried that coal-fired power facilities planned for Texas could pollute the air
The agency is planning to take part in a February 21st hearing on the proposed projects before the Texas Office of Administrative Hearings.
Environmentalists fear the new plants will pump millions of tons pollution into the air each year.
Dallas-based energy company TXU Corporation wants to build eleven of the plants and as many as 18 could ultimately be built.
Oklahoma City-based natural gas company Chesapeake Energy also opposes the plants.
